Among the vast quantity of objects, images, buildings, garments and ideas produced in any era, only a small number possess lasting artistic value. Fewer still reveal something fundamental about beauty, form, proportion, atmosphere, craft or human aspiration. These works do not become significant because they are popular, fashionable, influential or widely discussed. They become significant because they are exceptional.

RIGHTEOUS exists to identify and present such works.

We reject the assumption that cultural value is determined by consensus, visibility or market success. We reject the notion that all creative output is equally worthy of attention. Judgment is not an embarrassment to be concealed but a responsibility to be exercised.

The purpose of criticism is discrimination. The purpose of curation is selection.

Every Frame begins with an act of exclusion. We do not attempt to document culture in its entirety, nor do we seek to represent every movement, perspective or trend. We concern ourselves only with work that demonstrates uncommon merit and rewards sustained attention.

Architecture, Art, Design and Fashion are approached not as separate disciplines but as different manifestations of the same pursuit: the transformation of material into meaning.

A Frame is not coverage.

RIGHTEOUS does not recognise generative A.I. output as art.

Art is the consequence of intention, judgment, taste and responsibility exercised by an author over time. While generative systems may produce convincing images, text and forms, they do not possess authorship, nor can they exercise aesthetic judgment. Resemblance is not achievement.

RIGHTEOUS will not publish A.I.-generated work as original creative practice.

Where artificial intelligence is employed, it must remain subordinate to human judgment. Its role may be technical, corrective or editorial. It may assist a process; it may not constitute the work itself. It may refine an image; it may not author one.

Any editorial use of generative A.I. will be disclosed clearly and without exception.

The mission of this publication depends upon the existence of authorship. Without authorship there can be no responsibility, without responsibility no judgment, and without judgment no art.

RIGHTEOUS publishes photographers, writers, architects, designers and critics whose work demonstrates unusual clarity, conviction and discernment.
